Service Information
Clinical lead: Dr Lindsay Smith
Our ENT service is led by a GP with an Extended Role in ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat), working with a team of ENT consultants and Nurse Specialists. We see patients with sinus problems, hearing problems, throat discomfort, recurrent nose bleeds, balance problems, voice problems, ear problems and wax removal.
Inclusion Criteria
- Rhinology (nose)
- Blocked nose
- Rhinrrhoea
- Excessive sneezing
- Epistaxis
- Snoring
- Sinusitis
- Otology (ear)
- Change in hearing
- Otorrhoea
- Tinnitus
- Vertigo
- Otitis externa
- Otitis media
- Foreign bodies
- Otalgia/itching/blocked sensation
- Glue ears
- Patients needing suction under the microscope
- Laryngology
- Recurrent sore throats
- Pain in throat
- Enlarged adenoids
- Sensation of a lump in the throat
Exclusion Criteria
- Any patient meeting the NICE 2WW Head and Neck Suspected Cancer criteria
- Housebound patients, as we do not have the ability to provide home visits
Diagnostics Provided
- Microsuction
- Nasendoscopy
- Nasal cautery
- Epley Manoeuvre
- Dix-hallpike manoeuvre
- Wax removal – suction under microscopic guidance
- Hearing tests
Referral method
- Referrals can be made using the standard referral template, emailed to modality.ent@nhs.net
